Study Abroad - European Union
During my Spring 2016 semester, I was able to gain one of the most memorable experiences of my life by participating in the University of Cincinnati Honors European Union study abroad course. This was a very unique opportunity as I was not only able to learn how marketing in the United States differed from Europe, but I was also able to stay in France and in Belgium during Spring Break!
Prior to the trip over the period of the course, much research and many presentations were conducted by the students in order to get a good idea of how business is conducted in the locations we'd visit. Our trip to Paris, France was very insightful as I was able to witness and experience a number of events such as local festivals and churches which were all very unique to what we're used to in the United States.
My visit to Belgium greatly exceeded my expectations. Our group of 21 were able to visit multiple cities such as Brussels, Antwerp, and Bruges. During our time in Belgium, there was a crisis that occurred which allowed our group to witness how businesses in that country responded to emergency situations.
Overall this European Union Study Abroad Course gave me a much more global mindset about conducting business and marketing in general. Additionally, as my first visit to Europe, this trip ignited a desire to visit many more European countries in the near future!
Below is an example of the type of presentations that were given in preparation for the trip. Many of our presentations accurately highlighted the learning objectives of our trip and gave us a foundation for where to start going upon arrival to Europe.
